The Durumbura Dhurabang Stakeholder Project: Workshop 2
Our second Stakeholder event, held at Macquarie University, on 10th October, 2024, attracted around 60 attendees as news got around that we were building something important as a Caring for Country initiative. Workshop participants identified key obstacles to the ecological restoration of the Durumbura Dhurabang (Lane-Cove River), as well as opportunities going forward.

By the end of the second workshop a call had been made for an Indigenous-led DD/LCR catchment group to be established that is focused on the ‘whole-of-river wellbeing.’ It was recognised that traditional custodial leadership is necessary for long-term ecological and social sustainability. It was also proposed that the committee be self-run and would provide all stakeholders with the opportunity to provide input into ways to improve community caring for the river.
